Subcision
What is subcision?
Subcision is a safe and minimally invasive procedure where a needle is used to puncture through the surface of the skin and cut the fibrous scar tissue that pulls the surface of the skin. Because the depressions are released from the deep structures, this allows new connective tissue to form and heal the wound.
Benefits
- Minimal risk
- Reduce many types of acne scars
- The absence of any epidermal injury except minute needle insertion points
- No – minimal downtime
Procedure
Subcision is performed under local anaesthesia (topical or infiltration). A sterile needle is inserted adjacent to the scar and moved back and forth in a fan-like motion under the scar to release fibrous bands at the dermal or deep dermal subcutaneous plane. A small hematoma is allowed to form, which supports the release of the scar.
Recovery time
Subcision for Acne Scars is a very quick and effective procedure.
There is no downtime. You can return to your normal work after the treatment.
How many treatment sessions are needed?
At Amaran, subcision can be done as a standalone treatment or can be combined with other scar reduction treatments. The doctor will assess the type and depth of the scar, and the treatment plan will be decided.
